MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. A network of more than 30 biological laboratories was formed on the Ukrainian territory at the request of the US Department of Defense’s Threat Reduction Agency, the chief of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological protection force, Igor Kirillov, said on Monday.
"The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly drawn attention to the military-biological programs the Pentagon is implementing in the post-Soviet space. In Ukraine, a network of more than 30 biological laboratories was created. Some of them are research laboratories and others, sanitary-epidemiological ones," he said.
Taking part in the projects is the Black and Veatch company, affiliated with the Department of Defense.
Research proceeds along three main tracks.
"Firstly, the biological situation is monitored in areas where, the Pentagon says, the deployment of NATO’s military contingents is likely. Secondly, there is the collection and transportation to the United States of samples of highly pathogenic microorganisms. And thirdly, research into likely agents of biological weapons, specific for the given region, which have natural froci and can be transmitted to humans," Kirillov said.
He said that since 2021 the Pentagon had been working on a $11.8-million project for the diagnosis, surveillance and prevention of zoonotic diseases in the Ukrainian army.
"In 2020-2021 the German Defense Ministry conducted research in Ukraine into the pathogens of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, meningitis and hantaviruses under a Ukrainian-German initiative for biological safety on the European Union’s perimeter borders," Kirillov stressed.
The American authorities previously admitted that Ukraine hosts "biological research facilities", expressing concerns they could come under the control of Russian forces.

On 7 March, the Russian armed forces discovered 30 biological compounds in Ukraine, which were possibly involved in the production of bio weapons, according to the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defence of the Russian armed forces Igor Kirillov.
The Russian MoD noted the United States spent more than $200 million on the work of biological laboratories in Ukraine - the laboratories of the central sanitary and epidemiological directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry participated in the US military biological programme.
While the US initially slammed information about its bio warfare labs in Ukraine as "fake", on Tuesday, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland admitted the existence of US-funded "biological research facilities" in the country.
Moscow has spent years expressing concerns about the activities of US-funded biolabs in Ukraine and other post-Soviet republics, including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Georgia.

Tony Palandra of Markham, Ont. said he had no idea that when he decided to rent out his father's home to help out a family that it would result in frustration, mounting bills, and ongoing problems.
"They say they will pay the rent in August, September, October, November, then it's Christmas time and they really have no intention of paying," Palandra told CTV News Toronto.
Palandra, who said he is owned about $35,000, is one of a number of landlords who say they’ve been waiting for months to have their cases heard by the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board, but can't because of a huge backlog of cases.

For her career and community achievements Marlene has been a recipient of a Forty Under 40 award, Y Women of Distinction award and a Leading Women Building Communities award from the province of Ontario.
Hi Folks – As you are all aware Canada 2020 is bringing Hillary Clinton for a luncheon address on Monday, October 6th. Both the Leader and Sophie will be in the crowd to hear the speech, but there is a strong desire to work on a private one-on-one with HRC during her visit. Canada 2020 is unaware of her actual arrival and departure time on the 6th, so I am unsure if there is even time to work in a sit-down.
During the meeting Mike and I had with Tim yesterday, it was clear that we would need to drive this in order to see it happen. The structure of the contract and arrangements is that Canada 2020 works through HRC’s agent and are not dealing directly with her people.
Tim has reached out on our behalf to Desiree McGraw who does have a personal relationship with someone that is very close to the Clinton’s – to try that angle. I have spoken with Charles Bird who often will work for HRC when she visit to Toronto to put the bug in his ear that we would like a private one-on-one, and Kate Purchase was also reaching out to a connection that she has with Clinton.
These are merely the irons we currently have in fire.
I think a multi-prong approach is the best one in this circumstance, so I am reaching out to this group to see if we can brainstorm other approaches, or connections, that might get us to the right individuals making the decisions.
